The Secret RF utilises the combined therapies of skin needling and radio-frequency (RF) energy to stimulate improved production of collagen and elastin in the skin to create a fresher, more glowing and youthful skin appearance.
Single-use, sterile micro-needle cartridges smoothly penetrate the deeper layers of skin and deliver precisely controlled bipolar radio frequency energy into the tissue, inducing a process called fractionated denaturing. This triggers an intensive skin renewal reaction resulting in increased production of important structural components of the dermis, collagen and elastin, improving strength, elasticity and fullness to the surface of the skin.
The synergy between RF and micro-needles is one of the most technologically advanced forms of skin rejuvenation therapy available whilst reducing treatment time and downtime compared to fractional based laser treatments. Secret RF harnesses your body’s own potential to heal itself. The treatment stimulates collagenesis (i.e. production of collagen in the skin’s deepest layer), to lift-up scars, smooth texture of the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Prior to treatment the skin is cleansed to remove makeup and creams and a special compounded, topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated to minimise discomfort.
The skin is cleaned again with an anti-microbial solution and the handpiece is passed over the treatment area, where the minimally invasive micro-needles deliver the radio frequency energy very precisely into the skin. The treatment can be mild to moderately uncomfortable with a general feeling of heat and warmth in the skin as the RF energy is delivered. We have both a cool air system and stronger anaesthetic creams available for improved comfort if required, and your therapist will work with you to adjust the treatment energy throughout your treatment.
Downtime is mild to moderate. You may feel warm, experience mild erythema and notice minor plumping of the skin for a few hours post treatment and this generally settles on the day. Mild redness may persist into the next day. A very faint pin-prick pattern may be present on the skin and your skin may feel a little dry for up to 10 days as the skin pushes through the denatured, old skin cells as part of the renewal process. This is easily covered with makeup or a tinted daily SPF from the next day.
Treatment will vary depending on the indication, location, skin type and condition of skin. For general skin rejuvenation we recommend 3-4 sessions, monthly. Treatments for scars may require further sessions (4-6 sessions) or combination therapy with other treatment modalities.
